Frances Sternhagen, the Tony-winning Broadway actress who also charmed TV audiences as Cliff Clavin’s mom, Esther, on “Cheers” has died. She was 93. Sternhagen’s son, actor John Carlin, announced Wednesday on that his mother died peacefully of natural causes on Monday night. “Frannie. Mom. Frances Sternhagen.
