A man died after crashing his car into a tree Saturday in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana State Police said. Mervin Briggs, 44, of Kentwood, was driving north on La. 1058 shortly after 10 p.m. when he lost control of his 2015 Ram 3500 for unknown reasons. The truck went off the road and struck a tree, police said. Briggs, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared dead on the scene.
