World rice shortage looms after India export ban, extreme weather

A worldwide rice shortage is looming, and prices for the grain are skyrocketing due to reduced exports from India and production hampered by extreme weather. India exports more rice than any other country, but last month it said it would ban some shipments in an attempt to prevent domestic prices from inflating.
