Maple Leaf Mel breaks leg at Saratoga, euthanized on track

A racehorse owned by former Giants football coach Bill Parcells was euthanized at Saratoga Racetrack on Saturday after she broke her leg just a few strides from the finish. Maple Leaf Mel suffered a “catastrophic injury” to her right front leg in a stumble that also sent jockey Joel Rosario tumbling to the ground, the New York Racing Association said in a press release.
