Illinois Supreme Court upholds law ending cash bail

The Illinois Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a state law ending cash bail and ordered that it be implemented by mid-September. The court ruled 5-2 to uphold the Pretrial Fairness Act, under the umbrella of the SAFE-T Act — massive criminal justice reform legislation signed last year by Gov. JB Pritzker.
