Ancient Maya deity of death sculpture unearthed in Mexico

An ancient stone statue of a Maya death deity, dating back more than 1,400 years, has been discovered in southeatsern mexico.Experts from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) uncovered the effigy near the town of Conhuas on June 16 during excavations for a new intercity train line.According to the INAH, the human-like sculpture has been carved out of limestone and stands at roughly 10 inches tall.
