Pope Francis was discharged from the hospital on Friday and allowed to return to the Vatican, where he will continue to recover from abdominal surgery. The 86-year pontiff exited Rome’s Gemelli Hospital in a wheelchair, smiling and waving at well-wishers gathered outside.
