Planned $82 million upgrades, expansion would improve Maine broadband access

Internet and cable TV giant Charter Communications said Thursday it plans to spend $82 million to upgrade and expand broadband service in Maine, and expects to acquire a local internet service provider along the way. Charter, which does business as Spectrum, said it will use $70 million over the next two years to upgrade connections in areas across the state where the company already provides services.
