Maternal mortality rates for American women rose again in 2021, hitting Black women particularly hard,  from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). There were 32.9 deaths for every 100,000 live births in 2021, up from 23.8 in 2020 and 20.1 in 2019, per the CDC.
