An asteroid will come extremely close to Earth on Thursday — but will miss us, NASA says

An asteroid the size of a delivery truck will whip past Earth on Thursday in what is expected to be one of the closest such encounters ever recorded. NASA insists that it will be a near-miss, with no chance of the asteroid hitting Earth. The agency said Wednesday that the newly discovered asteroid, known as 2023 BU, will zoom 2,200 miles above the southern tip of South America.
