Census Bureau: Puerto Rican population in Orange, Osceola jumps 12.5% after Hurricane Maria

The Puerto Rican population in Orange and Osceola counties surged in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria by a combined 12.5% last year, according to the Census Bureau’s latest American Community Survey estimates. Of the nearly 37,000 new residents in the two counties, Osceola had the largest percentage increase in many years, 22%, the figures released this week show.
