Oregon sperm whale to be given back to nature before potential burial

The body of a 40-foot sperm whale that washed up on an Oregon beach earlier this week will be returned to nature, park officials say. Following a necropsy to determine the cause of death, the carcass will remain on the beach until park officials find a safe time in which to move it.The stranded whale was found at 11:45 a.m. local time on Saturday morning, about 100 yards south of the historic Peter Iredale Shipwreck at Fort Stevens State Park.... + full article
