The presumptive point of Fred Grimm’s Jan. 8 column (”Open carry is as much about intimidation as self-defense”) is that an open-carry law for firearms would be a bad thing. I am ambivalent on the subject. Any gun law should seek to enable citizens to protect themselves and punish those who use firearms for nefarious purposes.
