Orlando electric utility aims to keep coal trains on time as winter nears

Orlando’s twin power plants that loom over east Orange County and use coal as fuel are winding down their twilight years, nearing retirement because of climate change and changing energy priorities. Orlando Utilities Commission still relies on their megawatts and, in what has become a challenging task, tries to keep enough coal on hand to fuel the two generators for 30 days.
