I appreciate the recent article “Florida needs to use a better hurricane scale.” The column concludes that there are new and improved ways to classify hurricanes. It posits well that the reason we don’t change to a more complete classification system for characterizing hurricanes is that we’re all used to hearing the Saffir-Simpson scale.
