Burning propane tank, suspicious package found outside Alabama synagogue

Police in Birmingham, Ala. removed a suspicious backpack from outside a synagogue Friday, where a burning propane tank was also found. Police department spokesman Truman Fitzgerald told the Daily News it’s unclear if the two discoveries are connected. “We can say the actual contents of the backpack were not an explosive device,” Fitzgerald said. “The two instances could be connected.” Temple Beth-El in Birmingham, Alabama.
