Tobacco prohibition won’t work. Instead, look to reduce harm

Florida’s public health leadership has done a remarkable job reducing tobacco’s toll on our state, cutting the smoking rate in half over the course of the past few decades. Still, tobacco remains the leading cause of preventable death in this country and more must be done to reduce its impact on our communities; however, the FDA’s recent decision to ban menthol cigarettes will only make matters worse.
