Letter to the editor: Changes to MaineCare match Maine’s values

In the last couple of months, the evaluation of MaineCare reimbursement rates has proposed that independent practitioners providing mental health and substance use counseling be reimbursed at the same rate as a mental health agency. I strongly support this change. At the present time an independent practitioner is reimbursed approximately $14 per unit versus a mental health agency that is reimbursed $22 per unit for the same service.
