Tropical Storm Karl jumped in strength Wednesday afternoon but is expected to begin weakening Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center. As of the NHC’s 8 p.m. update, Karl was located about 255 miles north-northeast of Veracruz, Mexico, and about 290 miles north of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico.
