Guest column: Lafayette needs to take urgent action on crime

Ravis K. Martinez I write to express my deep concern regarding the unprecedented surge in gun violence that continues to plague our community. In 2023, the city of Lafayette experienced 29 homicides and, as we close out the first month of 2024, we have had a reported total of seven incidents of gun-related violence, of which two are confirmed homicides, while two others include victims who are currently listed in critical condition.
