Over the last 30 years, the rate of maternal mortality has continuously increased in the United States while rates have decreased in other high-income countries, and the rate of maternal mortality in Louisiana is higher than that of the United States.Between 2018 and 2021, the maternal mortality rate in the United States was 23.5 per 100,000 live births.
