Tech lobbyists score wins in state kids’ safety laws

A new law in Arkansas — the Social Media Safety Act — would bar any kids under age 18 from using social media apps unless they get parental consent. Exempt from the statute, however, is Google’s YouTube — the among teenagers ages 13-17. Further West, Utah lawmakers passed an even stricter parental consent measure in late March banning kids from apps after 10:30 p.m., while offering exemptions for certain social media sites like LinkedIn.... + full article
