The potential death toll in the shipwreck of a boat crammed with people attempting to reach Italy could be 100 or more, authorities said Monday. Estimates on how many people had boarded the vessel in Turkey as they fled from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere ranged from 170 to 200.
