Frank Shakespeare, TV executive behind a new Nixon, dies at 97

Frank Shakespeare, a self-described “conservative’s conservative” who used skills he had learned in the television industry to help elect Richard Nixon as president and then put a hard edge on the Nixon administration’s message abroad, died Wednesday. He was 97.The death was announced by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington think tank, where he was chair of its board of trustees in the 1980s.
