The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found red tide in Southwest Florida over the last week. FWC officials observed 25 samples and found red tide concentrations to be more than 100,000 cells per liter, according to an Oct. 21 press release. The concentration number puts the warning at medium, which means red tide can cause respiratory irritation, fish kills and surface chlorophyll detection.
